Dishonest Or not?

Progressive work...

As I have been listening to the "dishonestman" sound clip for almost 200 times at least.

I came out of a story about a evil sheriff was trying to force some gold blocks from a business man, while the good sheriff was away.

The business man has hired the two sheriff's to be his guard till he reaches the bank.

The good sheriff knew that his colleague was up to something suspicious. So he decided to fake that he has to going to the toilet. However, he hid behind a wall.

As he overhears the evil sheriff threatening the business man and about to leave with a bar of gold, he walks out and points his gun at his colleague and ask him to stop. His colleague points back his gun.

The business man was so frighten that he drops the box of gold during the confrontation of evil and good sheriffs.

Here are the props that I came up with.

This is the sheriff's hat.

This is the gun for the sheriffs.

This are the gold blocks in a metal carrier.

The stage would be an old american town.

Figure Drawing for Animation & Designer

I can't wait to attend the enrichment course in NAFA!

However its being push back.

The best part is that its being pushed to Valentines day!

I sure hope the enrichment course would give me a higher chance in getting an internship from a great company. I've look up some of the positions offered by 3D companies, but I wonder which category does conceptual artist fall into, or is there a position for conceptual artist itself.

Wonder what other courses should I take, besides clay sculpting from 3D sense.
Any body have any ideas?

Acting

Final acting animation.

The animation shows Hogan eating ice-cream in a toilet. As he turns back and presses the flush button, the ice-cream drops into the toilet bowl. He turns around and gets shocked. He tries to look for the ice-cream, only to find that it has drop into the toilet bowl. He then yields and jumps back a bit. He then gives the whatever expression.

Basic Hard Surface Modeling (Making Props)

I choose the theme "Pirate". The reason for choosing this theme was due to watching too much ONE PIECE (anime) and having to look at a random inspirational drawing that I did last year while watching ONE PIECE.

(Pirate Hougan Engaging in a Battle)

(Pirate Hougan Gun)
The gun is a very new model though.

What inspired me?

When I was in primary school, I have always been a fan of 2D cartoons, from a range of anime to western cartoons. I would always draw out my favourite characters, and finally found my own style in drawing as well as adding on shades to make it look 3D like. During my 5th year in primary school, I found out from the nurse who checked my eye, that I have color difficiency, which causes me to see differently to others in terms of colors.

However, I made myself clear that I would want to take art in secondary school. Thus, during my sec 3 subject selection, I finally manage to pursue in fine arts. I was constantly taught how to improve lighting effects through shading methods, as well as developing ideas and composing layouts.

During my sec 3 life, I began to start to have an interest in 3D animation, after watching some awesome 2D and 3D movies. I felt that I would love to create character models for future movies to be screened world wide. An instance spark of passion lit inside me. I knew I was heading to a design or interactive technology school.

Today! I am striving my very best to learn and excell in Interactive Media & Informatics school, in 3D option, though I only learn the basics. But, this passion inside me for character designing, push myself in taking up extra enrichment courses at the end of this January. I certainly hope that the enrichment courses would help me in my dream to be a concept designer in future and be an student intern for Dreamworks.

3DVA Walkcycle

3DVA Walkcycle

This was the first time that I did walkcycle. It was during my 3DVA lesson last year. I have put in my best effort and knowledge given to produce this. There is a simpler way to complete this submission, which I notive, when I came across a animation book. But, I did the hardest way due to being instructed to do so. However, the hardest way really allow me to understand more about secondary actions.

Experimental Ball

Experimental Ball

This experimental ball animation that I did, shows a very fast ball(Ball 1) passing by a bouncing ball(Ball 2), which then knocks on a floating ball(Ball 3), which then jumps back a bit, and lastly passes it and another floating ball(Ball 4), floating from left to right.

Using the graph editor after key posing the different poses, I could easily change the acceleration and direction of the balls to give a different character to each of them.

TO BE NOTED:

After experimenting for awhile, I felt that ball 3's animation is still somehow weird. Having to be knocked by ball 1. It should have moved right abit, as it floats up.

When I was young...

When I was young...
The first 3D animation movie that came in to my mind when it comes to the animation that I loved was "The Nightmare Before Christmas", it is totally a classic in my memory of 3D movies. I remembered that I drag my dad to buy a copy of this movie, when it came out in the stores. There was even once when I sat there so quietly in front of the huge television screen in the electronic store, watching the movie, which so happened to freaked my parents out, while they were choosing a new television set. The short movie was a musical, filled with terrifying, yet magnificent sights. It was the first full-length stop motion animated movie ever created! I am inspired by the characters in the movie. They were simple models, yet packed with so much character due to its texture, and the way it was animated.
GENESIS
The genesis of this story started with a poem by Tim Burton (Disney animator) during the early 1980s. In July 1991, the production of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" started.

PLOT
The plot of the story depicts a dream world, known as "Halloween Town" filled with unique character models consisting of monsters, ghost, ghouls, goblins, vampires, werewolves, witches and skeletons. Jack Skellington(The main character in the story, aka "The Pumpkin King") became tired of leading the citizens in a frightful celebration routine year after year during Halloween. He stumbles upon a portal while wandering in the forest and crosses to "Christmas Town". Being impressed by the feeling and style of Christmas, Jack decides to present his findings to Halloween Town's residents. Having presenting his findings very vaguely and the residents fails to grasp the idea of Christmas, he decides to take over Christmas, by acting as Santa Claus. Meanwhile, Sally(A rag doll created by the town's mad scientist) falls in love with Jack, and was worried that Jack's plans would become disastrous. As his obsession grows stronger with Christmas, he instructs that Santa Claus to be brought back to Halloween Town to take a rest for this Christmas, allowing himself to take up the role of Santa. Thus leading him to terrify the citizens around the world, with his monstrous gifts. He survives a military attack, as he was known as an imposter trying to destroy Christmas. Though disappointed, he quickly picks up himself, as he has new ideas for Halloween, and quickly rush back to Halloween Town to save Santa from Oogie, allowing Santa to save Christmas. In the end, Jack reveals that he is attracted to Sally too. The story ends a romantic scene of them kissing under the full moon in the cemetery.

Character Design
The production team handcrafted 227 puppets to represent the characters in the story. They also created 400+ Jack Skellignton heads to allow the expression of every possible emotion. Sally had only ten types of faces made from a series of eleven expressions and synchronised mouth movements. Santa Claus' head has more than 50 different working parts.

The best fact about the puppets was that the smallest working puppet in the movie was just a doll from the "real world" that Jack visit, which was only one inch long.

How come Halloween Town looks so twisted?Amazingly! It looks so twisted due to the design artists, using their non-drawing hand to sketch out their design. I've never thought of drawing this way. SOMETHING TO BE NOTED ABOUT!
